ames Lawson is a Director at Helsing, Europe's leading Defence Tech company. He manages the Land business.
 
Before Helsing, James was a Senior Special Adviser in the Cabinet Office. At Microsoft he led the UK defence business, delivering a landmark agreement with UK MOD, including the deployment of mission capabilities and the first MODCloud commitment. James has previously held leadership roles at two AI startups, DataRobot and WorkFusion.

Outside of Helsing, James is Chairman of the Adam Smith Institute, ranked as the UK’s leading Economics think tank by the University of Pennsylvania. He is an occasional guest columnist on AI and wider public policy issues.
