Amy Morgan

Vice President, Relationship Director – University Spinouts, Barclays Innovation Banking

Amy Morgan is Vice President and Relationship Director for University Spinouts at Barclays Innovation Banking, where she leads the bank’s national strategy for supporting university spinouts and academic founders across the UK.

In this role, Amy created and now leads Barclays’ university spinout and academic founder proposition, working at the intersection of academia, investors, founders and policymakers. Her remit spans the full spinout lifecycle — from early commercialisation and first institutional funding through to Series A and scale — positioning Barclays as a long‑term partner to some of the UK’s most ambitious innovation‑led businesses.

Barclays Innovation Banking supports high‑growth, innovation‑driven companies with specialist banking, debt, and ecosystem connectivity. Through its deep relationships with universities, venture capital, growth investors and accelerators, the team plays a central role in enabling the UK’s spinout economy to scale sustainably and competitively on a global stage.

Prior to this role, Amy led the development and national expansion of Barclays Eagle Labs, helping to design, launch and scale the network to 43 locations across every nation and region of the UK. Eagle Labs became one of the UK’s most established platforms for supporting founders, startups and scaleups, embedding Barclays into regional innovation ecosystems and strengthening pathways between research, capital and commercial growth.

Amy is widely recognised for her expertise in the UK innovation ecosystem, particularly across university commercialisation, deeptech, life sciences and venture‑backed growth, and regularly convenes investors, founders and institutional leaders to address the structural challenges facing spinouts. She brings a practitioner‑led perspective grounded in real founder and investor experience, with a strong focus on building scalable, founder‑friendly models that drive long‑term economic impact.”
