Parenting and Entrepreneurship: Financial Planning for Children (Online)

Many entrepreneurs are – or will become – parents, yet the intricacies of managing a business while raising children are seldom talked about in depth. We would like to change that, and to create a space where parents feel safe to explore the challenges of running a business while also running a household. The project will be launched with a series of three lunchtime webinars.

The first webinar in the series will be on financial planning for children. Entrepreneurship can award freedoms that give us more time with our kids, however, it can also bring income instability, irregular cash flow, and unpredictable expenses – especially in the early stages of the business. Later stages may require investments in growth at the same time that family expenses increase. Having a solid financial strategy, which includes understanding tax free savings for children, helps entrepreneurs to build a safety net that protects their family from the uncertainties of business cycles.

To advise on how to balance investment in your children’s future with investment in your business, Kajal Sanghrajka will host a fireside chat between two financial advice experts – Anna Sofat of One Loud Voice for Women and Zoë Dagless of Meliora Financial Planning. As well as what you can do as an individual, they will discuss the wider entrepreneurship policy landscape, and what could be done better for parents there. The discussion will be followed by an open Q&A. Attendees will receive a one-page takeaway on practical tips for financial planning.

This event is primarily for founders who are parents or soon to be parents.
