Startup Funding: UK Versus US

The roundtable discussion will consider the following questions:

• Even with SEIS and EIS, does the UK still lack Series A funding?
• Do entrepreneurs still want to move to the US after growing past a certain size
• Over the coming years, should we still expect more IPOs in the US versus the UK

Power Lunches

Power Lunches are small, informal affairs aimed at entrepreneurs in our network. We restrict them to around 14 people (but people of influence). We start at 12:45pm for 1:00pm, and finish no later than 2:15pm. Our principal guest kicks off with roughly 10 minutes of introductory remarks; sandwiches, fruit, wine and coffee are served, and ideas are exchanged.

Mehdi Nayebi

Mehdi is the co-founder and CEO at KweekWeek – a holistic events platform which connects event organisers and consumers in a single space. After leaving Iran at a young age, Mehdi grew up in Paris and became an entrepreneur early on running a successful electronics business while he was in high school. He received a degree in Finance from Dauphine University and held several senior positions with Deutsche Bank & Bank of America Merrill Lynch in the Equity Derivatives division before co-founding KweekWeek.

Bircham Dyson Bell

This Power Lunch is run in partnership with Bircham Dyson Bell (BDB). BDB is a multi-disciplinary UK law firm advising private companies, public sector bodies, not-for-profit organisations and individuals since 1834. BDB has recently launched the REEF – a business community offering access to a thriving entrepreneurial community to share experiences and skills necessary for building and growing a successful business.
